Philemon received a teacher training scholarship from Remember Niger six years ago. He comes from a well educated family who lives near Maradi. He grew up seeing the needs of the people around him and wanted to help them. He loves teaching and thought that it would be a way to help his region and country. After graduating from a teachers’ college, he went to the school in Aguie, where he has been teaching for four years. It hasn’t always been easy to live in such a small village, but he is happy. He wanted to make sure we knew how grateful all of the teachers are for the support we provide, particularly the sponsorships. In addition to helping individual students, it ensures that the school is able to pay salaries and utility bills.
