Art is not a traditional subject in Nigerien classrooms. But, when Kara is in Niger, it is an important part of interacting with the students. Students in the sponsor program create cards for sponsors, usually using materials that our donors have provided. The experience is quite new to some students. In fact, some of the younger children have never seen markers and don’t know how to use them. In the past, Kara has conducted simple art classes and the students are excited to learn how to color and draw. We love all of the “objets d’art” created by our young artists, and will continue to engage them this way.
