One of the students we support comes from Northern Nigeria. Her father, who was born in Niger, was concerned about the relatively recent escalation of violence in the region where he had moved as a young man. After hundreds of girls were taken this year, he decided it was time to move back to his home country. He heard about the school we support from his parents who live nearby. He was able to send one of his daughters to school, but unfortunately, the other classes are full. He will have to wait until next year when the biggest class graduates to enroll his other children.
For me, this story shows how individual lives are impacted by conflicts and demonstrates the need for more schools in Niger!
